This book was written to support the work of mainstream primary teachers to manage the behaviour challenges they may experience with children who have additional needs in their classes. It encourages teachers to view behaviours that challenge through the lens of a child’s assessed needs and as communication. The book reminds teachers of their own teaching repertoires of strategies to respond positively and actively in small ways to these behaviour management challenges. It further shows how these small changes can make truly big differences for children with additional needs as well as for their peers. Using case studies of children with autism, dyslexia, ADHD and Down syrndrome / general learning disability, from presentation to resolution, the book shows thirty examples of small changes to support behaviour management in constructive and sensitive ways.
